What is Roughcasting?
Roughcasting is a mixture used to coat external walls. The most common mixture is a combination of cement, sand and small pieces of gravel. Seashells or pebbles can often be used, and is where the term pebbledash comes from.
Roughcasting is one of the most common exterior wall finish used throughout Scotland, even on new-builds as it offers excellent protection to the ever-changing weather throughout the year – and can withstand the elements for several decades.
